Memorial Weekend in the Springs = photos galore

We packed up and headed down to Colorado Springs for Memorial Day Weekend to stay at the Broadmoor Hotel - this gem of a place about an hour south of Denver. We had never been, but it was pretty great (you never have to leave the hotel if you don't want to!), so I'm sure we will be going back in the future (if we have anything to say about it, that is).

We got there Friday afternoon, and while Maida napped in the room with Dad, Mom and I strolled around the lake.

That afternoon we hit up the newest addition to the hotel - a bowling alley and restaurant called "Play." It was our first bowling experience, so Dad had to show us how it was done.

And then we decided it was best if we used this little ramp thingy

Maida and I both beat Mom so I'd say it was a success.

That night after dinner we roasted some marshmallows and made s'mores, of course.

Just posin'

The next day, we got in an early morning ride

And we discovered the baby swans that had recently hatched and were just learning how to swim. I thought it was hilarious that this one kept dunking his head under water and sticking his butt in the air.

They also had a great park there where we had some play time almost everyday - like I said, you don't have to leave the hotel grounds if you don't want to!

Then we hit up the kid's fair that day to kick off the summer - the highlight was the cotton candy, of course (another first)

 Pool time with Dad

Who doesn't love warm PB&J sandwiches poolside?

Just an awesome picture of Maida that evening when she refused to get out of the bath.

After dinner that night, we strolled by the lake with Dad. This is the life, I tell ya..

The next day, GG came down in the morning and played at the pool with us. The best part was she brought along water shooters!

After some rest and relaxation from our busy morning, I got all dolled up for some boating, bowling and dinner out.

First, Daddy, D and I took a paddleboat ride, but it didn't last long because Dad got too hot and started sweating through his shirt (which he despises) so that ended our boat ride real quick.

Then Maida, Mom and GG joined us for another round of bowling. We're not sure why Mom thought it was a good idea to wear a dress to bowl in - it severely impaired her skills (what little she had).

If that's not a devilish look, I don't know what is.

Family photo op...I could barely keep my eyes open at this point after a day at the pool, bowling and no nap - hence my fake smile.

Then it was back home the next morning. And since neither of us decided to nap, we ended up helping Dad with some chores outside...

Which quickly led to playing in the mud :) Great way to end our weekend, I'd say...
