Steamboat Springs aka Our Favorite Place on Earth
Earlier this month was our mountain trip to Steamboat for Dad's birthday. We were all excited to get going, and shorts seemed appropriate to head up to the mountains
I finally got some more ski lessons under my belt, and had a blast.
Maida also killed it on the slopes. Just her second lesson this season, and the girl was cruising down the hill effortlessly. She also passed the kid up behind her in this photo - he was just not going fast enough.
Mom and Dad also enjoyed some time on the slopes for Dad's birthday. Dad tried a few blacks, and Mom got a little more comfortable with the greens and blues. I'm fine with her playing it safe - we really would fall apart without her.
The next day was some much needed relaxation at Strawberry Hot Springs while Dad and D did some fishing (no actual fish were caught during their expedition).
Maida and I took the polar plunge in the cold water side once Jed arrived and we had someone who would go in with us. It was FRIGID. Had we been an hour earlier, we might have found $100 bill like the guy who jumped in before us.
But hands-down the best part of the trip was the dog-sledding. Mom insisted we do this, and we were so glad she did. It was EPIC (my new favorite word). I got to ride with GG and D, while Maida and Foster rode with Mom and Dad (sadly Sara and Jed had to head back early so they missed the fun).
The weather was great, the dogs were amazing, and the views even better. I will definitely be asking to do this again.
